About us (Eng.)

Preface
Over the past decade, TANHOU has always provided the healthiest ingredients to all consumers with the care and caution one would have for family and friends, as if walking on thin ice. In recent years, the recognition and encouragement from customers have been heartening, leading to the compilation of these experiences into a book titled "My Safe Dining Table." Looking forward, TANHOU has made a third vow: to infuse this considerate spirit for family into every household in Taiwan, large and small. The hope is that everyone can embrace health through safe and reliable ingredients, thereby achieving a happy and fulfilling family life. TANHOU also wishes all its friends to live healthier, happier, and more abundant lives.

►Cherishing Life: A Conscientious Enterprise

Liu Tien-ho, the founder of TANHOU Biotech, was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2000, undergoing surgery eight times. During his post-surgery rehabilitation, doctors advised him to consume easily digestible fish as a source of protein. However, finding a pure, unpolluted fish in Taiwan at that time was a challenging task. Liu silently pledged to himself, "If I recover from this, I will raise fish that everyone can consume with peace of mind." Thus, the inception of TANHOU Biotech began with this simple thought.

►Dedicated to Raising the Best Fish

After recovering, Liu Tien-ho traveled across Taiwan before finally choosing the unpolluted outer seas of Penghu as the breeding base. In 2003, his company became the first in Taiwan to manage the entire process from production to sales. Having lost his health once, he insisted on raising fish without antibiotics or drugs, allowing them to grow naturally. His background in technology also led TANHOU to prioritize information management, pioneering production history records, tracking every fish from birth, breeding, processing, to delivery, producing the first "health fish" with an identity in Taiwan. Each batch of fish exceeds the European Union's zero-detection standards. These innovations and efforts are dedicated to raising pollution-free fish.

►Facing Setbacks Without Giving Up

In 2006, the company faced a tornado, and in 2008 and 2010, it endured the worst cold damage in Penghu's history, resulting in significant losses from these three natural disasters. Despite these challenges, Liu Tien-ho did not give up. Instead, he focused on diversifying operations, establishing "TANHOU Organic Ranch" and "TANHOU Green Farm." Collaborating with Professor Kang Jingxuan of Harvard Medical School, they developed special feed containing Omega-3 and trace elements from Penghu's algae, fish blood, and fish guts to raise seaweed pigs and chickens. They also used by-products of the breeding process to make natural organic fertilizer for growing organic vegetables. These efforts diversified TANHOU Biotech's products, meeting consumers' demands for safe ingredients.

►From Farm to Table, Protecting a Healthy Life

In 2008, "TANHOU Fresh," an organic and toxin-free supermarket was established, selling its own aquatic and livestock products, as well as organic fruits and vegetables. Additionally, the company launched "Island Canteen" restaurant, "TANHOU Bakery," and "Safe Dining Table," offering consumers an experience of real food. From farm to table, they protect the consumers' healthy lifestyle.
